Hello friends! I am an adult green sea turtle named April. I received my namesake because I was rescued on April 1st, 1991. I had to be rescued due to a fibropapilloma virus that causes tumor growths on my soft tissue. Doctors at The Turtle Hospital removed all of the tumors, but the growths on my eyes were so bad that I had to have my right eye amputated. I still have my left eye, but it is damaged as well, so I only see shadows. Being almost completely blind means that I would not be able to survive in the wild on my own. I now call The Turtle Hospital my forever home. I have learned how to navigate safely around my large saltwater pool and taught my caretakers a few tricks that help me get plenty of food. When you visit me, you might get a chance to see my unique "April dance," where I spin in circles and bob my head.
